    In the past few school years, some incredible events have happened that continue to have a positive impact on the lives of students of the Volcanes Primary school as well as the entire Volcanes community.
2014 - 15 School Year
January 2015
After over a year of work, the new sewing school is set to open.  Volunteers from Sewing Seeds (a Canadian Charity) will come to train local mothers to sew.  In three two week training sessions held over several months, these women can learn to sew professionally with the possibility of earning money within the community.  A future Sewing Manufacturing Co-op is planned to employ the graduates to make school uniforms, backpacks and other items which could be purchased by the city each year to distribute to some of the many families in need each year.  
January 2015 - Potable Water Supplied to School
It's taken many years of unsafe water and many sick children missing school but finally new fountains providing potable water for the children were installed by the city of Puerto Vallarta and Seapal, the local water commission
 The principal was so proud that now her children were going to have safe water from the new fountains built near the entrance.
December 30 - Kenya's Christmas Party
For 2014, Kenya's gift to children of the Volcanes School is to take two busloads of children to the Botanical Gardens.
December 17 - Angel Wings Foundation Sponsors Christmas Party for San Nicholas Kindergarten School .
As you enter Volcanes, a small Kindergarten with 50 small children is one of the first buildings you see.  Thanks to Eagle Wings, these children also get to have a small Christmas party and are each given a food, juice and a toy.  Then a cake ends the party with a lot of fun for all.   
December 17 - Party for 97 Volcanes Kindergarten School Children.
Each year when the Volcanes School Christmas Parties were held, next door the Volcanes Kindergarten would watch and saw the fun being had by their friends, brothers and sisters.  Thanks to generous donations, a morning Christmas party for them is held every year.   
December 15 & 16 - Christmas Parties for Volcanes School Children
The volunteers helping create the Christmas Parties deserve a deal of thanks. Two parties are held.  One for the 215 children attending the  Morning school session and the next day another one for the other 209 children attending the Afternoon session.  This year the food will be hot dogs, individual bags of chips, juice and of course it wouldn't be a Christmas party without cakes for both events.  Then each child select their own Christmas present.  
December 14 - Shopping for Christmas Party Toys at Sorianas.
With the money raised, volunteers try to buy a Christmas present for each of the 420 children attending the Volcanes primary school.

Hard Rock Hotel Helps Out Again at Volcanes School
This time the staff of the hotel brought out .
December 2013
December 30 - Kenya's Christmas Party and Movie Day.
For 2013, Kenya's yearly gift to children of the Volcanes School took the form of a morning at a Pizza restaurant and Arcade followed by the 66 children attending a Christmas Movie.  To many of these children, it was the first time any of them had ever been to a movie.  It was so special seeing their faces during the day.

December 18 - Angel Wings Foundation Sponsors Christmas Party for Volcanes Kindergarten School .
Each year the small Kindergarten with its 50 toddlers have never been able to be included in the Christmas parties as funds were always so tight.  Fortunately, Angel Wings Foundation stepped in this year to provide toys and food for each child.  It was a unforgettable morning for those who attended.   
December 16 & 19 - Christmas Parties for Children Attending Volcanes School.
The volunteers helping create the Christmas Parties deserve a deal of thanks. Two parties were held; one for the 250 children attending the  Morning school session and the next day another one for the 170 children attending the Afternoon session.    Each child was treated to Burger King hamburgers & fries, sodas as well as cake.  Then each child selected their own Christmas present.  
December 15 - Shopping for Christmas Party Toys for 400 Children at Sorianas.
With the donation goal of $ 5,980 reached, it was time for volunteers to try and buy a Christmas present for each of the 420 children attending the Volcanes primary school.  

November 2013
November 9 - Saturday Afternoon Cafe Roma Pizza Parties Begin
Every Saturday afternoon while school is in session, Cafe Roma's owner (Señor Fox) welcomes the kids from the Volcanes School to his restaurant and offers them free pizza. It's a chance for tourists visiting Puerto Vallarta for a holiday to volunteer and help serve pizzas and drinks to the kids.
In a ceremony attended by hundreds of parents and residents of Colonia Volcanes, the library opened its doors.  Thanks to the Rotary Clubs from Canada who made it possible.  It will offer free Wi-Fi, a study room equipped with laptops for secondary students, and a growing number of Spanish, English and even some French books for the community and school students to use.
November 5 - Father Éloi Raises over $ 20,000 for Teacher's Fund. 
To say that this announcement was awesome is an understatement.  This amount raised by one person is enough to pay all the teacher's salaries for almost four months.

English Classes for Volcanes Mothers Begin in New Library
In a joyous celebration, the mothers of Volcanes school children have begun to learn to speak English.  Together these women want to improve their children's lives and attend classes every day.  One method used is by watching well known songs played on the video screen and read the words as they appear.  Reading and singing along while making a joyous noise.

Vallarta Mayor Invest in New Colonia Volcanes Playground 
For those who have been to Colonia Volcanes for many years, what strikes is how little that little community has.  From what had been a field of scrub has become a beautiful new playground.  This means so much for the children and residents of this poor community.
Start of School Year
It's always a fun time at the beginning of the school year.  The children are so full of energy to get back to their school and our program which means that this year all 250 morning session and 170 afternoon students at the Volcanes school are enrolled.

Summer Camp
Art's favorite time of the year is when he can get small groups of Volcanes children and bring them to special places within Puerto Vallarta that they could never afford to see.  Thanks to local businesses offering special pricing, the children got to go swimming with dolphins, at a pool party at an expensive hotel, or on a nearby jungle tour.

End of School Year for Volcanes School
It's been a very positive year for the students of the Volcanes Primary School and their parents.  We know the difference the VCEP is making is the lives of families in Volcanes and thank those from around the world who have helped make this difference.

Work Begins on New Volcanes School Library
Though work will take several months to complete, work began on the new Volcanes School LIbrary.
March 2013
Funding Achieved for New Volcanes Community Library.
The shelving, desks, tables and chairs of the new Library have been ordered and the community can't wait. Electrical work has also begun leaving only the electronics (Computer, Printer, large screen TV/Computer monitor,
Wi-Fi, & DVD system) to be purchased and installed later on.
February 2013
Planning Begins on New Volcanes Community Library.
Puerto Vallarta only has one Library; the Los Mangos Public Library.   An Agreement is reached that an unused classroom can be used to house a community library which can be used by the children of the school as well as others from Volcanes.

Liscum Boys return to help Volcanes School Students.
When the children attending the Volcanes Primary school graduate from Grade 6, they need to pay higher school fees and face other expensive challenges to continuing their education.   By giving these needy children a $ 300 Becas Scholarship, it help keep those children in school for an additional year.
Hard Rock Hotel Helps Out Again at Volcanes School
This time brought 150 brand new children’s books for our library. In addition they brought 50 dispensas (a box of basic food items for a family of 4 for a week.) to be distributed to the poorest families in our area.
3,000 new children’s books donated by Ron Fahey and Ft. Hays State University. 
These books started their journey south from Kansas more than 2 years ago, made their way through Arizona to the border at Nogales, crossed the border to a warehouse south of Nogales, Mexico, then to a small town about 4 hours from Puerto Vallarta, and finally to Puerto Vallarta.
Sandra Wicks, Anchorage Rotary, begins Reading Program
Sandra and other club members have rallied together to raise money for 2 brand-new tables in the library, as well as new chairs for the students to utilize. Sandra didn't stop there. She came and read with the children during the week, using her positive attitude to engage the 3rd grade students who were first-timers in library.

November 10 - Hard Rock Hotel Paints Classrooms and Holds Free Burger BBQ for the Children.
Hard Rock Hotel in Nuevo Vallarta, wanted to help children in one of the 
poorer areas of Puerto Vallarta. They visited the Volcanes Primary School 
and decided this was where they would help the school and the children.
